“Sticky Slimes” by SominStudios.
“Stick [together to reach new places.]”
In the puzzle game “Sticky Slimes” there is only one goal per level: One of the green monsters must reach the stairs that lead to the next challenge. Problematically, since any contact of a slime with a conspecific causes them to immediately merge into one big formation, coordination is often quite difficult. After all, not only the exit must be entered, but also switches need to be operated and keys have to be collected.
Interestingly enough, “Sticky Slimes” cannot be reduced to this sticking-together mechanic alone, as it also presents a separating mechanic later on. If the theme of the Brackeys Game Jam 2021.1, which was “Stronger Together”, is still firmly followed in the first half, an almost egoistic component is added to the gameplay – all for one instead of one for all, so to speak.
However, things get quite crazy in the final stages, where it is suddenly possible to produce any number of slimy companions by pressing a button, and even more when this new mechanic is mixed with the two others. This melange of different puzzle elements combined with the smooth level design makes “Sticky Slimes” an entertaining, polished jam submission that you surely would not want to miss. [PLAY]
